Running with my sewing machine!

My sewing machine that Neil bought for my birthday a couple of years back has been sitting on our bedroom floor, covered, and sent to the corner for the last 8 months or sew (so)! The last time I used it the bobbin thread did nothing but tangle into a huge mess, over and over again. So I gave up and wanted nothing to do with it all this time. I've avoided sewing anything other than by hand because I need instant gratification and I didn't want to take the time to figure out what was wrong with it. But all that changed this weekend.....I've been inspired over the last month by all the beautiful, creative sewing projects I've seen on the blogs I read and I wanted to jump back in. So, I set the machine on the kitchen/sewing/craft/homework table, blew off the dust and dog fur and away I went. And nothing is wrong with the stinkin' bobbin! It works like a charm. Maybe it needed a time out. Maybe I needed to work on other projects like knitting and embroidery. Maybe I gave up on it to easily.

These pictures are some of my sewing inspiration taken from the Bend-the-Rules Flickr Photo Pool group.

I'm right there with you. I have always used my moms 1970's sewing machine. she just gave me a new one and I am so intimidated by it that I haven't even opened it up. I'll need your inspiration to get me sewing.

Good for you! Your projects turned out adorable! My machine does just what you described, and I don't know what the problem is, other than it being a cheap machine. Next time, I'll invest in a better one. You did a great job!!
