I have discovered that my son LOVES hummus. I love it too so I decided to make a batch instead of buying a container at Raley's for $4.99. I picked up a bottle of Tahini (seasame seed paste) in the natural food section. This jar will allow me to make about 10 batches of Hummus. I found this recipe but added my own spices. You can add cumin, a jalopeno for heat and a little cilantro and make it a Mexican hummus. Or make an Italian style by adding fresh or dried basil, sun dried tomatoes, and pine nuts.
Hummus is a healthy dip, made from beans, for chips, pretzels, cucumbers, or carrots. It's typically served with pita bread cut into triangles.

That's a very good education you're giving your son.
Nevertheless, in order to be really healthy the hummus must be made from dried chickpeas, not canned ones. I explained it here

Also, when made from dried chickpeas it's 10 times more tasty. You should try that (and yes, my blog has a propper recipe. It IS called The Hummus Blog after all).
Good luck!
I looove hummus!
